Customer tag rules

Setting up customer tag rules allows logged-in customers to view specific locations tagged exclusively for them.

For example, if you want customers in the Illinois and Northern Indiana areas to see only the Chicago warehouse location, tag all customers from these areas with “Chicago.” Then, associate the “Chicago” tag with the Chicago warehouse location.

To display specific locations based on customer tags, follow the steps below:

Setting Customer Tags

  • Go to Shopify customers and select a customer’s name to add a tag for logged-in customers.
  • Click ‘Save‘ to apply the tag.

Set customer tag rules by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the ‘Stock & Location Rules‘ in the app.
  2. Select the rule type: Customer Tag Rules.
  3. Associate a customer tag with a location in Shopify.
  4. Add the same customer tag to the “Tag to be associated with the locations” field.
  5. Select the locations in the “Select a location to associate with a customer tag” field.
  6. Click ‘Save’.
  7. If needed, you can ‘add new associations’ for additional locations.
  8. Also, disable the ‘add to cart button‘ if an item is out of stock at the associated location.

Additional note:

  • Ensure the option to output customer info is enabled in the app embed.
    • Navigate to Online Store > Themes > Customize > App Embeds.
    • From Location Inventory, enable the option ‘Output Customer info‘.
  • Make sure you have a customer account and enable the option to display the app only for logged-in customers.
    • Navigate to the product page widget settings.
    • Go to the “Advanced” section.
    • Enable the option “Only display the app for logged-in customers“.
