The Company Location Rule lets merchants segregate inventory between B2B companies and between B2B and B2C customers.
Prerequisite: You must be subscribed to the Enterprise plan.
Step 1: Set up the Company location rule
In the Multi-Location Inventory App, go to Location Rules > Company location rule.
Click Setup rule.

You’ll be prompted with “App update required” for first-time setup; click Continue. On the Update data access prompt, click Update.
Back on the Company location rule page, click Setup rule again. The app will begin synchronizing metafields. The synchronization may take several minutes depending on the number of variants in the store.

Wait for the synchronization to finish. You may refresh the page periodically to check its progress. You will also receive an email notification when the process is complete.
Step 2: Enable the rule
Once the initial setup is complete, you’ll go back to the Company location rule page. Click Turn on to enable it.

Step 3: Configure the available Rule settings

Locations & validation messages
Use Locations & validation messages to define the default fulfillment locations for B2B and B2C customers and customize inventory validation messages.
- Default locations for companies – Select the default fulfillment locations for all companies.
- Default locations for B2C customers – Select the locations available to customers who are not purchasing on behalf of a company.
- Sold out error message – Customize the sold-out message generated by the Cart & Checkout Validation function. Leave the field empty to use the default message.
- Low-stock error message – Customize the low-stock message generated by the Cart & Checkout Validation function. Leave the field empty to use the default message.
Default locations vs. company location mappings
The default locations configured on the Company location rule page apply generally to companies and B2C customers.
For finer-grained control, you can map individual company locations to specific Shopify fulfillment locations. This lets you define which fulfillment locations are associated with a particular company location instead of relying only on the default company locations.
To do this, add the Linked Fulfillment Locations app block to the company location page in Shopify Admin.
Add the Linked Fulfillment Locations app block
- In Shopify Admin, go to Customers > Companies.
- Select the company you want to configure.
- Click the intended location.
- Scroll to Blocks and click + Block > Linked Fulfillment Locations to add it.

Use the block to associate a fulfillment location with the company location.

Set up storefront integration
Storefront integration settings for the company location rule will be available soon.
Manage Inventory Metafields
The Metafields section synchronizes inventory information with location inventory metafields for improved inventory management.
Inventory updates are synchronized through Shopify webhooks, typically in near real time, although delays may occur. For improved data accuracy, you can also use manual or scheduled synchronization.
Manual sync
- Click Sync Metafields. This will start the JSON metafield update.
- Wait for the synchronization to complete.
- Refresh the page for the sync status or wait for the email notification.

Scheduled sync
- Select the desired synchronization time in GMT.
- Click Update.

To receive notifications after a manual or scheduled sync, enable Send email alerts after each sync.
